Race Team Forms
Below are documents and forms for Race Team Sailors. Most forms need to be completed once per calendar year (Code of Conduct, Medical & Liability Waiver, Chaperone Policies, Driver’s Agreement, SafeSport).
Chaperones & Drivers
Chaperones: any individual who is in charge of a sailor other than their own child at a regatta, clinic, or other OCS-sanctioned event is considered a Chaperone (including drivers).
Drivers: any individual who is driving a child other than their own to or from a regatta, clinic, or other OCS-sanctioned event.
Definitions
SafeSport Youth Protection Training: SafeSport is US Sailing’s standard for youth protection and is free for any individual associated with US Sailing (AKA anyone associated with OCS!).
Background Checks: All Chaperones should submit a background check. Background checks are processed by a Board member who is not a parent of a race team sailor and details are not shared with staff.
Contact Board member Katie Hurley (katiehurley@comcast.net) to start the Background Check process.
Details
Definitive rules and policies can be found for Chaperones in the Chaperone Policies and Guidelines document, and for Sailors in the Code of Conduct document.
Coaches are in charge at regattas, parents need to support coaches by making sure sailors are healthy, prepared, and have needs like food, warm drinks, etc met. Please refrain from "coaching" your or other sailors. Always let the coach know of any issues, especially but not limited to, safety, well being, etc. if it appears the Coach is not aware.
Coaches are NOT responsible for sailors post-racing activities even if they are still present. Chaperones are.
Never be alone with a sailor that is not yours. Always use the buddy system.
If your sailor is at a regatta (and you are not attending) and has behavioral or misconduct issues you may be asked to come collect your sailor at your time and expense.
